What We Treat
What We Treat: Veteran Mental Health and Brain Injury Recovery at Patriot PowerUP
At Patriot PowerUP, we provide advanced, trauma-informed mental health care tailored specifically to veterans. Our program is designed to uncover the true root causes of distress—using comprehensive diagnostics and cutting-edge therapies to ensure each veteran receives the care they actually need.
Many inpatient programs rely on generalized treatment plans, often missing critical co-occurring conditions like traumatic brain injury (TBI) or moral injury. At Patriot PowerUP, we begin with precision assessment, allowing us to deliver personalized, evidence-based care that supports long-term recovery.
Our residential model includes peer support, trauma-focused therapies, family integration, and leading-edge interventions like HBOT, TMS, and ketamine therapy. We help veterans stabilize in crisis, reconnect with their identity, and build a foundation for lifelong wellness.
Conditions We Treat
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Veterans suffering from TBI often face challenges like headaches, memory loss, mood swings, and cognitive fog. These symptoms are frequently misdiagnosed or overlooked, leading to ineffective care.
At Patriot PowerUP, we:
- Use neuroimaging and clinical evaluation to identify TBIs
- Provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to reduce inflammation and stimulate brain repair
- Integrate cognitive rehabilitation, nutrition, and experiential therapy to support functional recovery
TBI often coexists with PTSD and depression. Our program addresses these overlaps with a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
PTSD in veterans can stem from combat, training incidents, military sexual trauma, or moral injury. Symptoms like flashbacks, emotional numbness, hypervigilance, and withdrawal can deeply affect quality of life.
Our treatment plan includes:
- Integrative psychotherapy with CBT, EMDR, and narrative therapy
- TMS and ketamine infusion therapy for neurological symptom relief
- Group therapy and peer mentorship for community-based healing
PTSD recovery requires time, trust, and trauma-sensitive care—all of which are core to our residential model.
Depression
Veteran depression is often tied to isolation, transition challenges, injury, or unresolved trauma. When left untreated, it can lead to hopelessness, suicidality, or substance misuse.
At Patriot PowerUP, we treat depression using:
- TMS and ketamine for rapid symptom relief in treatment-resistant cases
- Personalized therapy grounded in trauma-informed care
- Nutritional and physical health support to address inflammation and energy deficits
Our team helps veterans move from despair to direction—restoring motivation, purpose, and self-worth.
Anxiety
Veterans may develop anxiety related to service, deployment, or post-discharge life. Anxiety can appear as restlessness, panic attacks, phobias, or constant worry.
We treat veteran anxiety with:
- Evidence-based therapies like CBT, ACT, and mindfulness
- Medication when needed, carefully monitored
- Residential support to remove environmental stressors and promote calm
By offering structure, validation, and coping strategies, we help veterans regain emotional stability.
Grief and Loss
Whether grieving a comrade, the loss of identity post-service, or one’s own physical health, veterans carry a unique form of grief. Unresolved grief can lead to depression, withdrawal, and loss of meaning.
We support veterans in processing grief by providing:
- Individual and group therapy focused on grief work
- Peer support with others who understand military loss
- Experiential therapies like art, movement, and nature-based healing
Grief is not linear—and our clinicians walk with veterans through every stage of it.
