John Drozd, Ph.D.

John Drozd is a licensed clinical psychologist and a board-certified medical psychologist. After receiving his doctorate, John completed residency training at Andrews Air Force Base and served as an active duty Air Force psychologist from 1997 to 2002. John served as the vice president of clinical affairs at Lexicor Medical Technology, and as the clinical director of the NeuroAssessment Centre.

As a committed scientist-practitioner, John is deeply involved in the development and delivery of evidence-based assessments and interventions for children, adolescents and adults. He has authored and co-authored multiple publications in the areas of psychotherapy research, clinical-outcomes management, trauma and the collaborative assessment and management of suicidality. John’s credentials and treatment philosophy align with the Innercept integral approach and further strengthen our ability to help adolescents and adults realize their full potential.

Jennifer Schinder Ph.D

Jennifer Schinder Ph.D

Jenn Schindler, Ph.D., is an Army Veteran and native of the Willamette Valley, Oregon. Following her tenure as a therapeutic boarding school manager and life skills instructor in Montana, she completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Walden University and a Graduate Certificate in Addictions Counseling from Montana State University. Driven by a profound commitment to understanding and addressing mental health challenges, Dr. Schindler’s academic pursuits focus on eating disorders, substance use disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder, including the provision of specialized support for sexual and gender minorities. At the forefront of her contributions is the development of Substance Abuse and Eating Disorder Recovery Programs for the Innercept continuum of care. Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Schindler finds joy in exploring the wonders of the Inland Northwest; whether it’s hiking, trail running, cycling, or savoring the plant-based cuisine the region has to offer, she embraces a holistic approach to well-being.

John M. Thurston, MD

Dr. Thurston is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He completed his residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2017. In 2019, after a series of stresses, he sought ketamine treatment for himself and had profound benefit. Since that time he has dedicated his career to furthering the therapeutic potential of ketamine treatment. He has lectured to Medical Schools and Residency Programs about Ketamine and is an active member of the American Society of Ketamine Physicians.

Sam Peterson is a former Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician and military contractor, who has made it a personal mission to provide care to those suffering from traumatic brain injury (TBI), depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Having spent 6.5 years in the army, which included two combat deployments to Afghanistan, Sam has a deep understanding of the mental health struggles that many veterans face upon returning home.

He has founded several small businesses focused on treating traumatic brain injury, depression, anxiety, and PTSD, and his passion for mental healthcare shines through in every aspect of the Patriot PowerUP program. With our team’s expertise and experience, he has helped create the Patriot PowerUP Neuro-Rehabilitation Program, designed to aid and rehabilitate veterans struggling with mental health conditions.

With the guidance of our experts, we can provide an empathetic and personalized approach to veteran inpatient mental health, ensuring that those who have given so much for our country receive the care and support they deserve.

Chris is a Combat Veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry and a former Texas Police Officer. Throughout his tenure in the military and law enforcement, Chris encountered firsthand the devastating impact of untreated mental health issues and substance use disorders within the military and Veteran communities. This experience ignited a profound dedication to supporting Veterans and Active-Duty military members during their mental health journey. Committed to making a difference, Chris continues to dedicate himself to the mission of combating Veteran and military suicide.
