Individual Therapy for Veterans
Individual Therapy for Veterans: One-on-One Healing from Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression
Veterans face a unique set of emotional and psychological challenges after military service. Whether the pain stems from combat trauma, survivor’s guilt, moral injury, or the stress of transition, individualized support can be life-changing.
At Patriot PowerUP, we provide private, trauma-informed therapy as a core element of our residential program. These one-on-one sessions offer veterans a confidential space to explore their experiences, build emotional strength, and create a foundation for long-term healing.
Why Individual Therapy Matters
While peer groups foster connection, one-on-one therapy allows for:
- Deep, personal processing of trauma
- Private discussion of sensitive issues (e.g., military sexual trauma, moral injury)
- Tailored coping strategies and treatment pacing
- Flexible therapeutic approaches based on a veteran’s needs
“The privacy and focus of individual therapy helped me say things I never could in a group.” — Army Veteran, Patriot PowerUP alumnus
Conditions We Treat
Individual therapy supports veterans managing:
- PTSD
- Major depressive disorder
- Generalized anxiety and panic disorder
- Substance use disorders
- Grief and loss
- Identity and transition issues post-service
Each therapy plan is built from a trauma-informed, veteran-centered framework.
Therapeutic Approaches We Use
Our clinical team is trained in a variety of evidence-based techniques:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Restructure unhelpful thoughts and beliefs
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): For trauma resolution
- Narrative therapy: Reframe painful memories and build a stronger self-story
- Mindfulness-based therapies: Strengthen present-moment awareness and emotion regulation
These methods are adapted to suit each veteran’s story, strengths, and needs.
How It Fits in Our Residential Program

- Medical and psychiatric care
- Nutritional and lifestyle interventions

Together, these components form a comprehensive recovery model that supports both brain and body healing.

Absolutely. That’s what individual therapy is for—processing the unspoken and creating space for healing.
Is therapy available even if I have no formal PTSD diagnosis?

Does individual therapy work alone or with other treatments?
